Text Box: Pass Plus Course

Highly recommended by the DSA to give a new driver experience on roads (incl. motorways) that he / she will not have experienced whilst learning to drive.

The objective of the course is simple: to give inexperienced drivers a head start to help prevent them becoming a future (accident) statistic!

The sad fact is that we kill two drivers under the age of 25 on the UK’s roads EVERY DAY! - this course is aimed at reducing this appalling statistic.

The insurance industry recognise the effect of Pass Plus — and offer significantly discounted premiums to certificate holders!

Already got a car, so no point in doing the course?? Not true!  Many insurers will give a rebate after you’ve bought your insurance on production of a Pass Plus Certificate!

Regardless of the above, think of your insurance excess and potential uninsured losses after a slight prang.  (Might you have avoided it had you taken this course?)  Deep down you know this makes financial sense!

People (especially parents) seek me out to deliver this course.  That says something!  Without exception, everyone tells me that they found it really useful.  And they’re MUCH safer as a result.

The highly positive feedback I have received has convinced me to only offer the IAM Pass Plus course.  It goes so far beyond the standard DSA course to invalidate it.

Every participant will receive a free copy of the IAM Manual “How to Be a Better Driver”  (Parents—this is good reading for you as well!)

FACT:  In the UK, if a male dies between the ages of 17 and 25, the cause of death is more likely to have been a car crash than anything else!  That is truly shocking!

A1 Driver & Rider Training

Cost of IAM Pass ++ Scheme:   Just  £200

… and when you’ve passed the IAM Advanced Test, you’ll get that back in the first year’s insurance savings!

If a client under the age of 26 goes on to enrol on the IAM’s Skill for Life programme , the cost is an additional £79 which includes more preparation for the Advanced Test, Driving Manual, a year’s IAM membership and the Advanced Test fee.

A client over 26 has to pay £99 for the package

We really start learning to drive after we’ve won our driving licence.  It takes up to 100,000 miles to make us really experienced drivers!

When you get your full driving licence, you can book for a course of 6 specially designed modules which cover driving

· In town

· Out of town / country roads

· in all weathers

· at night

· on dual carriageways

· on motorways

There is no further test to take. When the ADI  is satisfied with your performance you receive a certificate from the Driving Standards Agency (DSA). This certificate will earn you a substantial discount on your insurance premium from one of the companies in the scheme.

We all start our driving careers with two bags.  One is full (of luck) and the other empty (of experience).  The trick is to fill up the bag of experience before the bag of luck runs out!   This course will help you do that!  Later, an Advanced course will help you more!

As an IAM Recognised ADI, I now incorporate the Pass Plus course into the new Institute of Advanced Motorists Young Drivers’ Course.

The course is 8 hours, delivered as 2 half days, and incorporates ALL the elements of Pass Plus AND the basics of Advanced Driving including the System of Car Control as used by the Police.

The better candidates should be able to go straight on and take their IAM Advanced after this course.  However it’s recommended that they go on to join an local IAM Group on the Skill for Life Programme.
